The Process

How remote refinancing actually works

Most Australians still assume they need a local broker to refinance — a face-to-face meeting, a local branch, a broker who knows their suburb. In practice, a refinance is almost entirely a documentation and strategy exercise. All of it can be handled remotely without cutting corners.

01

Strategy call

We start with a 45–60 minute video or phone call to understand your current loan structure, goals, and what refinancing should actually achieve for you — not just the rate.

02

Document collection

You upload payslips, statements, and ID via a secure link. No courier, no in-person visit. We use the same document checklist for every client, regardless of state.

03

Lender recommendation

We compare options across 40+ lenders and present a structured recommendation with the numbers — repayments, total interest saved, loan term impact — not just a rate table.

04

Application & settlement

We lodge and manage your application, liaise with the incoming lender, and coordinate discharge with your existing lender. You're updated at every stage.

Note on property valuations: Lenders arrange their own property valuations — desktop, kerbside, or full — directly with their panel valuers. Your broker doesn't attend and doesn't need to be in your state. This step is fully automated on the lender's end.

Why Your Home Loan Consultant

What a strategy-based refinance looks like

Most brokers treat refinancing as a rate exercise. We treat it as a loan structure exercise. The rate matters — but the structure determines whether you actually get ahead.

Loan structure review

We assess whether your current split, offset, redraw, and repayment type are working together — or quietly costing you. Small structural changes often have a larger impact than a rate reduction alone.

Interest reduction modelling

We model the total interest impact of refinancing across your remaining loan term — not just the monthly repayment difference. This gives you a complete picture before you decide.

Equity access planning

If you have equity and you're considering a renovation, investment, or debt consolidation, we assess how to structure access without compromising your repayment position or tax treatment.

40+ lender panel

We're accredited with over 40 lenders — major banks, second-tier lenders, and specialist non-banks. Remote clients access the same lender panel as our local Brisbane clients.

Full application management

We handle the entire process — from lender selection to discharge coordination. You don't need to manage multiple conversations or chase progress yourself.

MFAA accredited — Credit Rep under Australian Credit Licence

James holds full MFAA accreditation and operates under the LMG Aggregation Group. The same regulatory framework applies regardless of which state your property is in.

Is This Right for You?

Who interstate remote refinancing suits

Remote broking works best for established homeowners who are comfortable doing things digitally and want to engage a broker based on expertise rather than proximity. Here are the situations we regularly work with.

Sydney & Melbourne homeowners in refinance territory

If you bought 5+ years ago, you likely have significant equity and a loan structure that's never been reviewed. A strategy-focused refinance often surfaces savings that a rate comparison alone won't identify — particularly around offset usage, split allocation, and repayment type.

Professionals who prefer to work at their own pace

Nurses, teachers, engineers, and corporate professionals typically do their own research before engaging a broker. The remote process suits this — you can review documents, compare recommendations, and ask questions without scheduling around office hours.

Investors with interstate portfolios

Many property investors hold assets across multiple states. We're experienced in structuring investment loans, cross-collateralisation decisions, and equity access for portfolio expansion — regardless of where the properties sit.

Clients who've outgrown their current lender

If your loan was set up when your circumstances were different — lower income, different employment type, no equity buffer — it may be worth reviewing whether your current lender and structure still reflect where you are now.

Newcastle & regional NSW homeowners

Strong property growth in Newcastle and the Hunter Region over the past five years has created refinance and equity access opportunities for many homeowners. We understand the lender appetite for these markets and can structure accordingly.

Anyone who's been meaning to review their loan

Many homeowners stay with their existing lender out of inertia. If you haven't had your loan reviewed in three or more years, the gap between your current rate and what's available today is likely material — and worth quantifying before deciding.

A note on local market knowledge: You don't need your broker to know your suburb's property market to get a good refinance outcome. What matters is lender selection, loan structure, and application quality. Your property value is determined by the lender's valuer — not your broker's local knowledge.

Common Questions

Questions about remote refinancing

Do I need to meet you in person to refinance?

No. Australian lenders have accepted digital ID verification and electronic signatures for several years. We can complete your refinance entirely by phone, video call, email, and secure document upload — nothing requires a physical meeting or your broker to be in your state.

Can you access the same lenders as a Sydney or Melbourne broker?

Yes. Our lender accreditation is national. The lenders on our panel — major banks, second-tier banks, and specialist non-banks — operate across all Australian states and territories. Lender appetite for your loan depends on your financial profile, not where your broker's office is.

How does the property valuation work when you're interstate?

The incoming lender arranges the valuation directly through their panel of accredited valuers. Depending on your loan-to-value ratio and the lender, this may be a desktop valuation (fully automated), a kerbside valuation (external inspection only), or a full internal valuation. Your broker is not involved in this step and doesn't need to attend.

Is it safe to upload my financial documents digitally?

We use a secure document collection portal for all uploads. Your payslips, bank statements, and identity documents are encrypted in transit and storage, and handled in accordance with Australian privacy law. The same process applies whether you're in Brisbane or Sydney.

What if my situation is complex — investment properties, multiple loans, self-employed income?

Complex situations are where strategy matters most and where remote broking has the clearest advantage over simply walking into a bank branch. We work through these scenarios regularly, and the remote process doesn't limit our ability to thoroughly assess your situation.

Book a call and walk us through it — if there are any constraints on what we can do for your situation, we'll tell you upfront.

How long does a remote refinance take?

Timelines are primarily determined by the incoming lender, not the remote process. A straightforward refinance with a major lender typically settles in 3–6 weeks from application submission. More complex applications or lenders with higher processing volumes can take longer. We'll give you a realistic timeline based on your specific situation and lender choice before you proceed.

Do you charge differently for interstate clients?

No. Our fee structure is the same regardless of where your property is located. We're compensated by the incoming lender via standard upfront and trailing commissions. For most refinances, there is no broker fee payable by you.

Ready to have your loan reviewed — wherever you are?

We'll review your current loan structure, model the impact of refinancing, and give you a clear picture of what's worth doing — and what isn't.

Provide your name and mobile and we'll be in touch with a clear picture of your options.
